Do you have experience of guiding and supporting trainees or apprentices through their professional journey, from recruitment to qualification?

As a key member of their L & D team, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting the firm’s trainees, responsible for providing career advice, coordinating training sessions, facilitating rotations, designing and implementing assessment centres and development events.

About The Role

 

The Early Careers Advisor role plays a crucial part in guiding and supporting the firm’s trainees as they embark on their professional journey within the company. You will be responsible for providing career advice, coordinating training sessions, and facilitating seat rotation placements along with designing and implementing assessments centres and development events for our prospective and existing trainees. This role will lead on the trainee lifecycle process from attraction, recruitment, performance management and qualification in order to support the strategic direction of our growing, energetic professional services Firm.

 

With specific responsibilities for the management of our talent streams, you will also be responsible for managing legal routes to qualification including CILEX/Solicitor Apprentices. You will build the Firm’s strategy for talent pipeline for future trainees and develop relationships with education providers and universities to create a broader reach and a more diverse talent pool.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing seat preferences and placements and being the first point of contact for all pastoral and training concerns for trainees.
  • Leading in all trainee recruitment aspects – screening candidates, organising assessment days and interviews, providing feedback and facilitation of the deliberation committee assuring we award trainee contracts to the best candidates for the Company.
  • Overseeing the Early Careers website and attending marketing events including careers fairs, university presentations, virtual events, open days and arranging for representatives from our paralegal and trainees communities to attend.
  • Supporting in the preparation of trainee placement reports throughout the year and other ad hoc projects.
  • Supporting the HR Director with various projects on SQE and process improvements
  • Manage the continual implementation of the SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Exams) any other routes into the profession for the Firm.
  • Design and produce associated collateral and documentation to market our trainee and apprenticeship programmes and differentiating the Company as an employer of choice.
  • Develop the Vacation Scheme/Summer Internship
  • Engaging with our future talent in the two years prior to joining and start working with them on their professional development from the point of offer.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with schools, outreach providers and other external providers as appropriate.
  • Liaise regularly with key stakeholders to ensure the apprenticeship plan is delivering for both the apprentices and the departments they sit in.

Experience

 

The Early Careers Advisor will ideally have previous experience of graduate recruitment and/or trainee development, preferably within a Law Firm or Professional Services setting. Along with possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels, it would be desirable to have an understanding of the SQE and hiring apprenticeships but this is not essential. The right candidate will be confident, self-motivated and have proven organisational skills. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with individuals across all levels. The successful candidate will have a client centric way of thinking, be focussed on relationship building and have excellent problem solving skills.
