HR Manager (Generalist)
Job Description
Our logistics client with c.60 headcount seeks an experienced HR generalist to build and shape the people function from the ground up enabling you to make your mark in a growing business where your ideas will genuinely make a difference. Responsible for developing HR policies and procedures, recruitment and onboarding, ER and compliance you will reduce employee turnover and drive HR KPIs whilst managing sickness and absence.

This is a stand-alone HR Generalist job role therefore, it’s essential that the successful candidate is confident in their ability to take responsibility for the success of the HR department and is also confident in their ability to manage all HR queries across the Company, in line with current legislation and company policies.
The successful candidate will:
- Have at least 4 years’ experience working in a HR job role – preferably as either a HR Generalist or HR Business Partner.
- Be qualified to at least CIPD Level 5.
- Have extensive knowledge and understanding of employment law.
- Be confident in their ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism with various departments across the Company. This includes, but is not limited to, the Company Directors, the leadership team and all employees.
- Be confident in their ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism with third parties – including, but not limited to, customers, suppliers and third-party HR services.
- Be confident in their ability to provide advice to the leadership team, in line with current legislation and company policies.
- Be confident in their ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Have significant experience conducting and assisting with the investigations process, formal meetings, disciplinary hearings and appeals. This includes, but is not limited to, providing guidance to management and note taking.
- Have experience creating and issuing training to new hires, existing employees and management.
- Have experience with absence management procedures, change management, the issuing of reasonable adjustments and managing employment tribunal claims/processes.
- Be confident in their ability to complete HR administrative tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to, utilising the Companies’ internal HR systems, tracking and analysing data to identify trends and authorising/declining annual leave for employees.
- Be confident in their ability to utilise Microsoft (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Be a positive thinker who is able to solve problems quickly.
- Take pride in their work and in a manner that prioritises accuracy and efficiency.
- Be able to work on their own initiative, and is confident in their own decision-making.
- Be able to adapt to change / follow instructions / have an understanding of the importance of complying with current GDPR legislation, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Undertake relevant training in order to improve their understanding and knowledge of both their job role and Company processes.
- Have the current and valid right to work in the UK.
