Confidently providing expert advice on complex ER, organisational design, workforce planning, performance, change management and engagement, you will build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and Trade Union representatives.

Senior People Partner
Job Purpose:
Lead a team of People Partners to provide strategic and high-level operational people advice and guidance to designated area/s of responsibility. As a trusted advisor, working collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and functional senior leadership to help shape, guide, and deliver effective outcomes in line with company’s strategic aims.
Working with and supporting the Head of People Partnering, other People Partners, People Partners and the wider People Team to provide a high quality and professional People service.
Role Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Identify key people issues within designated business areas, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver solutions in a timely and achievable manner.
- Establish effective working relationships with Centres of Excellence and other key stakeholders across the business, to plan and deliver the suite of People related interventions to deliver a High Performing Culture that supports performance, engagement, and continuous improvement. Areas include Performance Management, Early Talent, EDI, Productivity, and Learning & Development.
- Advise, plan and support designated business areas with organisational design needs and people change initiatives, leading all people aspects through to conclusion.
- Lead and line manage a team of People Partners, enabling the effective performance and development of individuals within that team as well as more widely across the People and Culture team.
- Proactively identify work trends, needs and opportunities in the market that will impact and influence the future workplace. Develop thought leadership and research, assessing organisational readiness whilst proactively identifying opportunities for the Organisation, whilst remaining compliant with UK employment law.
- Provide best practice business change and People programme management, applying project management methodology and working with key stakeholders, to deliver people elements of Company’s business plan.
- Advising ELT and working with the Social Partnership Lead on all matters of strategic engagement and social partnership with Trade Unions on complex/difficult issues relating to designated business areas.
- Support cross-functional working to ensure key colleagues/stakeholders are kept up to date on key developments which may impact on the strategy.
- Support leaders / People teams in planning and delivering effective continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies and business performance.
- Use data and insight to proactively identify and provide solutions to trends, risks, and opportunities across the workforce, driving continuous improvement and informed decision-making.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- A comprehensive understanding of the People landscape and UK Employment Law, handling diverse People issues, including transformation and organisational design, culture, reward, capability, and performance enhancement as well as being well versed in current employment legislation
- Creative mindset and passion to innovate, proactively bringing and using external insight to improve and enhance current practices
- Experience of working with a wide stakeholder group and building relationships with senior stakeholders
- Excellent planning and organisational skills and ability to manage and own multiple competing priorities and deliverables
- Ability to challenge the thinking and perception of others, influencing behaviour and culture change in line with the Organisation’s behaviours
- Ability to research and write Board level papers
- Committed to your own development and that of others.
Desirable
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- CIPD qualified (or equivalent)
- Experience of working within a unionised environment.
